who police say tried to carjack park-pettiford in his car outside a 7/11 store and shot him when he tried to drive away. that's after a crime spree that started with four armed robberies within an hour on friday, november 16th. this is how it ended for one suspect. 26-year-old jonathan wilbanks. captured after running into a family home later that night. the second and final suspect a teenager was caught last night after a week on the run. >> we're just happy that he's in custody now and again, the community can rest at ease knowing that he's behind bars. >> reporter: this is the sketch police used to help track him down. they're not releasing he has name. -- his name. he had been hiding in concord. >> i hope he gets tried as an adult. >> reporter: police say the man opened fire on the officer while he sat in his patrol car. the stick marks the path of the bullets and you can seen the officer's bolt -- on the

officer's belt how it punctured the pepper spray cannister causing it to explode. wilbanks was arraigned last week, the 15-year-old was booked last night in juvenile hall. >> for the rest of his life and he didn't deserve it. >> reporter: in san jose, anne makovec, cbs 5. >> the chp is now confirming a second sister has died in a crash with a patrol vehicle in palo alto. a father was driving his wife and four daughters in their suv when he ran into the back of the cruiser which was pulled over on the right hand side of highway 101. two sisters who died were thrown from the suv. the family had just spent the night doing black friday shopping. the items purchased were for a sister's wedding in india. two police officers were injured in a san jose house party last night. police responded to shots of

house fired in the 3,000 block of pat avenue shortly before 11:00. when they arrived people started throwing battles at them and hit one of the officers. a man tried the drag an officer into the backyard but he got away. >> officers continued to get -- to get bottles thrown and objects and second officer was injured trying to take some suspects into custody. >> it took several hours and about 60 officers to break up the brawl. 42 people were arrested on charges ranging from assault with a deadly weapon to misdemeanors. after the excesses of black frill, some people are looking for a more -- friday, some people are looking for a more civilized way to shop. cbs 5 reporter patrick sedillo on the importance of small business saturday. >> reporter: $500.12. >> reporter: after the rampage on chains like macy's and union square on black friday. today was small business saturday and burling game the

payday was anything but small. >> business has been amazing. >> reporter: the cashmere store is cashing in. it's a popup or temporary store. >> i am totally coming back next year. >> how much money? >> about $150. >> is that a start? >> yes. >> because i haven't shopped for anyone else yet. >> reporter: they even participated by eliminating parking fees and tickets on the avenue and buying in small stores keeping more money in the community as opposed to national chains. >> more than what we expected. >> reporter: but the liquidation score only one employee -- store only had one employee today. she was pretty busy. >> it was triple our usual sales. >> reporter: invented by american express two years ago the shopping day is nationwide and encourages shoppers to ditch the big box scores and chain in favor of mom and pop shops. >> probably spend about $500. >> any more on you? >> probably. >> reporter: from what i've seen the economy is picking up

but most small business owners i talked to wish that small business saturday could be every day. reporting from burling game, patrick sedillo, cbs 5 early edition. president obama and his daughters celebrated small business saturday by shopping at the independent bookstore. mr. obama, sasha and malia did christmas shopping in arlington, virginia. the president apparently looked up a title on the checkout counter and bought 15 children's books that will given to family members. one man's convenience is another man's annoyance. people in one town were upset with a neighborhood 7/11 being opened at all hours so they took them to court. and won. but cbs 5 reporter christin ayers explains the fight isn't over yet. >> reporter: it started two and a half years ago. this fairfax convenience store that was supposed to be open from -- well, 7:00 to 11:00 open 24/7. >> come out on your front porch

and you see them. >> reporter: you might have guessed the couple who lives next door wasn't exactly saying oh thank heaven. >> there was noise and a lot of hanging out. you know we could be in our house with the doors closed and the it wases on and hear a -- televisions on and hear four letter words in our home. >> reporter: the beginning of the big battle. on one end the store owner, on the other the family who lived here in relative peace for 22 years. >> this was my home. >> reporter: two years and appeal and a slew of legal fees later, they won. 7/11 will be forced to start closing at midnight come december 1st. that should have been the end of the saga but the store owner told the newspaper that the morenos have since threatened him and they're no longer welcome on his store's property. >> i'm banned from there. they will call the police if i go over there. >> reporter: she's not the only one she says but other families who complain can no longer enter the store. neighbors told us they'll be

a strip club. more than 40 other buildings housing residential units were damaged. three of the buildings are now condemned. 18 people were injured. mostly emergency workers and authorities say no one was killed because the area had already been evacuated after a report of a gas leak. well, hamas has deployed more police to the gaza border with israel. the rare move by the group in control of the gaza strip followed intervention by egyptian mediators. they urge both sides to preserve the truce that ended eight days of fierce exchange of fire with israel and hamas. the extra police presence is intended to keep residents away from the fence that is secured by israeli soldiers. and a second day of massive protests in egypt. people are angry about islamist president mohammed morsi giving him almost absolute power. reporter ines ferre reports.

>> reporter: demonstrators ran from egyptian police who launched tear gas cannisters into the crowd. it's the second day of protests over president morsi's decree gives him sweeping new powers which extends him from judicial oversight. there were clashes outside the high court in cairo. then inside at least 150 judges, lawyers and prosecutors demanded morsi withdraw his declaration. this judge says we will not allow anyone to play with state institutions. morsi's power grab came one day after winning international praise for helping broker a cease fire between israel and hamas. >> the timing of it to the day after he gets all this international applause, would suggest that he was using the cover of the international approval to do something that he knew and under other circumstances would have registered stronger criticism. >> reporter: morsi said the move is temporary while his country is in political transition.

couple of days. it looks like that high pressure remains monday, and then tuesday. and then tuesday late night that's when a low pressure system heads our way. a few clouds roll in. and then a good chance of rain. by wednesday morning. so yeah that seven day forecast things get a little interesting. lows overnight a lot of 40s, some low 50s. 52 in san francisco. and then by tomorrow, once again a lot of 60s around the bay area. 68 in oakland. so some of the temperatures are going to get close to about 70 degrees. you know a lot of people are traveling on this thanksgiving holiday weekend. so sfo tomorrow partly cloudy, high of 63-degrees and just some light winds and around the country it really doesn't look too bad. going to get kind of hot there in mouse on the. 79-degree -- houston. 79 degrees, cool and cold in chicago. 45. partly cloudy skies. and new york, coming in in the very low 40s. pinpoint forecast, around northern california going to see some fog roll in, in sacramento and fresno. otherwise plenty of sunshine around monterey and lake tahoe. so here's your forecast over the next several days.
